On and off the dance floor
Code of conduct
Our Code of Conduct is Appendix A of the club Bylaws:
“Members must act with integrity, honesty, and care, treating others with respect. On and off the dance floor:”
- Avoid criticizing partners; use praise.
- View leads as suggestions (if you're uncomfortable, don't do it).
- Share responsibility for dance outcomes.
- Focus on “what” is wrong, not “who.”
- Strive to improve partners and maintain individuality.
- Do not hurt anyone; practice patience and awareness.
- Do their best to dance with everyone whether they be young or old, experienced or not, etc. in an effort to be inclusive and make everyone feel welcome.
“Violations may result in reprimand or removal by the Board.”
Appendix A, SDCH BylawsNon-discrimination policy
“The SDCH does not discriminate on the basis of race, color, religion, gender, sexual orientation, national origin, age, disability, or any other protected category in membership, activities, or governance.”
Section 3.6, SDCH BylawsFloor rules
- No food or open beverage containers on the dance floor — sealed water is fine.
- No alcohol (the Palladium is a Honolulu Parks & Recreation facility).
- No wax or powder on the floor.
- Dancers of all ages are welcome — it's an alcohol-free space.
More to come
